The Quartermaster was established in 1974 almost by chance. I saw a catalogue at a friends  for an auction house in England that sold British militaria. Since I was an amateur historian, Britains collector, and military figure painter it seemed a natural off shoot of my Colonial reproduction business, which since has been discontinued.

Starting with primarily cap badges I was extremely lucky to me meet up with such illustrious, knowledgeable collectors as Charles Cowie, Laurie Archer and Lelia B. Ryan all  devout collectors and very anti reproduction. I learned a lot from them. One lesson is that you can not tell a reproduction badge by pictures alone. You need to put it in hand. Todays repros are very good. I've been fooled.

From cap badges to general British militaria was a leap but a growing reference library and a long line of knowledgeable contacts has made this endeavor successful.

For a good number of years I collected original Simkin prints and embroidered  bullion badges of the British army.

I buy collections, keep want lists and find special items on request for clients.

I believe that customers must be satisfied. If you feel something is incorrect send it back no questions asked.
